Character Profile

Character Name: Len Valimar
Character Age: 19
Origin: Juno
Job&Build: Bard; Int/Dex
Weapon Type: Instrument
Looks&PB: Len was always considered to be more of a singer than a battler.
Even his appearance gives most a feel of his gentle nature. However, beneath
the long sleeves of his favorite collared shirt, he is nearly as well-toned as an archer since he often did chores around the house and did errands for others. Along with the white shirt, Len normally likes dressing in jeans, trying to avoid using his traditional bard uniform unless he has to. Genetics granted Len with his father's dark brown hair, his mother's unusual violet eyes, and unfortunately both his mother and
father's short 5'5" height. Due to his recent traveling, Len is not quite as blaring white as he once was, but is now slightly tanned. He also carries around and wears a feather bonnet. This was given to him by his mother as a gift before he left Juno.

Len's PB is slightly undecided, but will be drawn by amearare (Aeterna
Augustine)

Background: Once belonging to a rich well-known family who resided in the
stone walls of Juno, Len was, of course, pampered. His father was a rich and
influentual sage before marriage, but his mother was a dancer who people
liked to gossip about. Dancers in the first place were not common in Juno,
and when she first arrived with Len's father, people said that she looked as
though he picked her off the streets of Comodo. Residents began to look down
upon the Valimar family, and Len's father became estranged.

Drunk on his need to regain his composure, the day that Len was born his
father went all around Juno, telling everyone that it was a mistake and that
he would never marry anyone outside of those in Juno. Thus, Len's mother
became more of a mistress than a wife. Even after Len had grown up, and had
a little sister, they were hardly let outside because they "might be seen
and people might judge wrongly". The mother could not say anything to go
against his father, but she took care of Len and his sister all she could
while their father was away.

During the few times Len was let out, he always saw the same girl about his
age outside bothering some mage trainees. Enticed by what they taught her
(after being poked about for a very, very long time) Len cautiously creeped
out and introduced himself to the girl. He found that he actually got along
better with women than with men anyway. When he was already right in front
of the girl, Len finally realized another oddity to her. She wore a blinker
to cover her eyes, and her hair was pure white. Disregarding how she looked
(after all he didn't look so normal himself) he eventually made friends with
"the little blind annoyance" as the mage trainees liked to call her. Aeterna
Augustine, another kid from a wealthy residence. Besides his sister, she
became Len's only friend. During the times he played with her, those were
the best memories in his life.

At the age of 5, fate struck as it always somehow does, and Len heard
arguing from a house a bit away one morning. He peeked out his window and
saw Aeterna (whom he called 'Aet' now) walking away from her house, leaving
off to somewhere unknown. From then on, he saw less and less of her, and he
began to wonder if she had forgotten him. When Len became 11, he watched the
now grown up Aeterna leave once again. The only difference this time was
that she did not return.

Secretly his mother had sent Len to the Comodo Theatre every day since Len
turned 8. His mother would sing to him and teach him songs whenever she could find the time to. When she was busy, he would practice by singing to his little sister who would, sometimes, begin to fake cry and plug her ears then run away. Eventually he became better at his singing, through his mother’s teachings as well as his studies in the Theatre. Well enough where he would be invited to perform with the alumni, though he could never accept. It was hard enough trying to sneak by his father everyday to attend the school after all. Still, he took a chance once and watched his academy’s performance from the sidelines. He didn’t notice the now grown-up Aeterna also watching from a distance away.

Eventually his father found out, and boy was he furious. “My son, a mere performer for the commoners?!” he would howl. Len’s mother would try to calm him down but his father would have nothing of the sort. Not wanting to break up any relationships over something so trivial as what he wanted to be, Len left the house with none of its riches save the money he earned by chores around the house (paid to him by the lazy maid who was supposed to attend
to the house) and a few bundles of clothes. As he walked out the door, his
mother awaited him outside, smiling sadly. Surprised and wondering how she
knew he was going to leave, Len wasn't able to say a word. She handed him a
feather bonnet casually, and he accepted it with shaking hands. From her
stories, he knew that the bonnet was from her bard partner back in Comodo,
and that she had treasured it much. "You better wear it, the journey will be
tough on you, and the sun will be sure to give you cancer without it," she
said. Giving him a last smile and wiping away her tears, she ran back into
the house before he could say anything. Clutching the bonnet that was now
his, Len whispered a 'thank you' before continuing to the airship steadily.

He never saw his parents nor his little sister since. He still receives
letters from his mother, telling him about how his sister is following in
his father's footsteps instead. Len would save all the letters, but never
found the heart to reply. Yet they still keep coming to the Bard academy, of
which he studied under for 10 years and still visits when he's near it. Now,
Len travels around and sings for all those who wish it. He still keeps his
eyes open for that snowy white hair and large smile.

Personality: Len adopted a very gentle nature due to how his mother always
taught him. Insults about his looks hurt him still, but as a bard with long
years of training, Len is very good at masking his feelings now. While he is
talented at singing, Len also gets embarrassed easily. All it would take is
a few claps, cheers, or compliments and he'd turn red as a tomato.
Unfortunately he is also partially naive, and is taken advantage of quite
easily. His trust is very fragile, for he vowed to himself that he wouldn't
let his friends or family go ever again.

Likes: Singing, whacking things with his instrument, Geffen restaurants,

put much thought into it)
Marital Status: Single
Family: Parents and Sister (no longer in contact except letters from his
mother)
Occupation: Performer for anyone and everyone
Home: Performer Theatre, Comodo
Other: Len saved up his money and is now moving to Geffen

Samples
First-Person Journal Sample: What a day! To begin with, it was very very
sunny and hot. Also this Kafra had suddenly approached me at top-notch speed
on a tired looking pecopeco, handing me this journal...thing...This isn't
one of my best days, is it? Hey, is this thing even worki-wow! I guess it
really is! It seems to anyway. [Is slightly crossed out from here] Amazing
the things those crazy alchemists come up with now days. Putting kafras on
pecopecos hehe.

Third-Person Writing Sample: A deep breath, vocal chords loosened, and a
hand strumming lightly on his favored lute. Len sat upon the ledge of a
fountain in Geffen, his violet eyes focused downwards on his lute as he
began to sing and hum softly. The tune had drawn a few children and even
mages who weren't busy. A smile graced his features as he continued to play
the tune that his mother taught him so very long ago. A song about the
sadness of losing someone, and the memories that they left behind. Even as
Len himself plucked out each note with confidence, visions of the past
danced before him. As a little boy he played this tune shakily, yet with his
mother danced before him to it, it seemed like the most beautiful thing he
ever heard. Brows furrowed as Len's smile turned slowly into a frown. But
she was not here anymore, and everything depended on him. Before he realized
it, Len's tapping foot had slipped forward on a wet stone, and he landed
firmly in the fountain's not quite sanitary waters. Sighing and getting up
to stare at all the laughing faces, Len grew red in the face with
embarrassment. What a day indeed...
